Roberts Community--

Did you know there will be a pop-up class THIS Friday, February 6th for the whole school? Yes, it’s called JOG-ography! Also known as our annual FUN RUN, this event raises money to fund everything from air filters for classrooms to teacher supplies to clubs like the Soccer Team and the Dance Company. This year, some of the funds will be used to make the Teacher Workroom more efficient and productive for the city’s best educators.

To make this happen, we need YOU to get us to the FINISH LINE!

We only have 3 days left and are around 75% of our goal. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider it! Also, NOW is the time to reach out to grandparents, extended family, Facebook/Insta friends, and your social groups. They will love taking a break from doomscrolling to see your cute kids running hard for a good cause. We’ve received donations from Thailand to the Netherlands, an amazing reflection of our global Roberts Community. Let’s get this DONE!

TWO EASY STEPS TO DO TODAY:

1. DONATE and be a HERO to your kid! mybooster.com
2. SEND THIS INFO TO YOUR PEOPLE and ask them to donate (feel free to cut-and-paste):

  • We are the lowest-funded public elementary school in Houston. True.
  • We are ranked #3 of all elementary schools in Houston ISD. Also true.
  • Our teachers and administrators are the best. Prove me wrong.
  • Roberts is celebrating 90 years of being rooted in community and reaching for the world to help make our kids global thinkers and good people. Yep.
  • We have a 90-year-old building that needs a facelift. With your help, yes!

You guys have been amazing all school year long. Thank you for your dedication to Roberts and this Community. This place is what a school should be, thanks to you.

WE ARE ROBERTS!

ROBERTS RODEO ART PROGRAM

This year’s Rodeo Art program was a major success, with student artwork earning exceptional recognition at the elementary level. Five student pieces from Roberts Elementary were selected as NRG finalists out of only 11 total elementary selections districtwide, reflecting the strength, rigor, and consistency of our art program. The NRG finalists from Roberts Elementary are Yelda Vera Korkut, Emma Watts, Allison Voie, Addison McDade, and Emerson Wright.

Students worked closely with Art Teacher PJ Morales, meeting twice a week for over two months to develop and refine their artwork through a structured and competitive process. As a result of this dedication, Emerson Wright was named the district Best of Show winner, the highest honor awarded, selected from over one thousand student submissions. Emerson Wright also earned the opportunity to apply to the prestigious Glassell Junior School of Art Program through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program.

The Best of Show artwork will be displayed at the Hayloft Gallery during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, representing Roberts Elementary at the highest level. We are incredibly proud of our students for their commitment, creativity, and excellence in representing Roberts Elementary on a districtwide stage!

Congratulations Emerson! Featured with Principal Zatzkin, Teacher Morales, and HISD Director of Fine Arts Devondria Douglas.
