Student Safety with Principal Zatzkin
Following our first PTO meeting of the school year on Friday, August 28th at 8:00AM, I would like to invite the Roberts Elementary community to a meeting focused on student safety. During this meeting, I will review the procedures and practices currently in place at Roberts to support the safety and well-being of our students throughout the school day in regards to campus safety and drills done throughout the school year.
I will also address questions from families and share how our staff, families, and community can continue to work together to maintain a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for every student.

CURRICULUM NIGHT THURSDAY 6:15 - 7:30PM
|
|
We invite you to join us for Curriculum Night on Thursday August 27th, from 6:15-7:30PM. Doors will open at 6:00PM.
During this event, teachers will walk you through grade-level curriculum, academic expectations, and important information needed to support your child’s success this year.
Because this evening is designed for parents to focus fully on the information being shared, we kindly ask that students not attend. This is the only adults-only event of the school year, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support in making arrangements so you can attend without your child(ren).
If you are unable to attend, your child’s teacher will email you a copy of the presentation. We look forward to seeing you there!

IMPORTANT CAMPUS REMINDERS
|
|
Please take a moment to review our Family Handbook to make sure you are familiar with our campus routines, expectations, and procedures. Being familiar with these guidelines will help us all have a safe and smooth start to the school year.
New to Roberts? If you are a new Roberts family and were unable to attend our New Parent Orientation, please take a few minutes to view the digital presentation. Even if you are a returning family, it is a great refresher on our campus and procedures!
Save this email address to your contacts so it's readily available when you need to contact the school: RES@houstonisd.onmicrosoft.com
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
Because Roberts is a landlocked campus with limited space, it is especially important that all families follow our arrival and dismissal procedures. Following these procedures helps us keep traffic moving and ensures a safe and efficient process for everyone.
Campus doors open at 7:15 am. Please do not drop off students BEFORE 7:15 am - there is no staff on duty for supervision.
Three entry points in the morning: 1. Red doors at the Circle Drive - main entrance (moving car line, no parking in the Circle Drive or anywhere on Swift Street in front of the school) 2. Greenbriar Gate on Greenbriar Drive (gate closes at 7:25 am; NO car drop off at Greenbriar, this is a walk-up gate only) 3. Small gate on School Street (gate closes at 7:30 am; moving car line; no parking) Please note: the Circle Drive is closed during the following times: 7:00AM - 7:45AM and 2:30PM - 3:30PM. There is NO parking in the Circle Drive during these times.
Please note: The gated parking lot is for STAFF ONLY. Staff parking spaces are assigned to individual employees. Parents and visitors should not park in the staff parking lot or in assigned staff spaces. Parking in these spaces can prevent our teachers and staff from getting to their classrooms on time and can delay the start of the school day.
We appreciate your cooperation and partnership in following these procedures. When everyone does their part, arrival and dismissal run much more smoothly for our students, families, and staff! Please review the complete arrival and dismissal procedures here.

IKIDS DISMISSAL GUIDELINES
|
|
|
If your student attends iKids afterschool program, please review the iKids policies in conjunction with the Roberts policies outlined below regarding dismissal:
School Dismissal Procedures
- Dismissal Changes | Any time there is a change in your child’s dismissal plan, a written notice must be sent to the school BEFORE noon. Email your child’s teacher(s) and CC RES@houstonisd.onmicrosoft.com.
- If you must pick up before 3:15 pm, please change your child’s dismissal plan for the day to either parent walk up, car pool, or independent walker (grades 2nd through 5th). Once they are checked into iKids, the school will not be able to dismiss the student and you will have to come in and check out through iKids after 3:15PM.
- Deadline | To ensure timely transportation arrangements, your child's school must receive the transportation notice no later than noon on the day it should take effect.
- Check Schedule | If you are unsure of your child's iKids schedule, log into your Enrollsy Parent Portal account using the Enrollsy Parent Portal.
|
|
|
Pick-up Information
- Location | Students must be picked up at the front of the school.
- Pick-Up Times |
- General Pick-Up: 3:30 PM - 6 PM. If your child needs to be picked up before 3:15 pm, please change to another dismissal method as stated above.
- Stay & Play/One-on-One/Enrichment + Stay & Play: Pick-up by 6 PM; a late fee of $1 per minute applies after 6 PM.
- Enrichment Only (Part-time): Pick-up by 4 PM to avoid a late fee of $1 per minute.
- FetchKids App | Log into your FetchKids account and select "Start PickUp" to notify iKids when you are headed to the school. This ensures a smooth pick-up process.
- ID Requirement | Please be prepared to bring your ID for the first few weeks until our staff becomes familiar with your faces. If someone different picks up your child, they must bring their ID and be listed on your Pick-Up Authorization Form. All authorized pick-up persons MUST have the FetchKids app installed on their phone, and you must add each authorized person to your team in the app.
Pick-Up Transition | We kindly ask for your patience during the first few weeks of school as we work to ensure a smooth and efficient pickup process for everyone. To reach out to iKids, please email support@ikidinc.com.

ROBERTS PIANO PROGRAM REGISTRATION
|
|
The Roberts Piano Program is beginning to accept KG-5th grade students. Any students interested in this program must commit to a full year of lessons and practice. They also need to maintain sound conduct and a good academic standard. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to continue in the program.
All lessons are scheduled during the school day, during one of their grade-level recess time. Kindergarten through 4th grade lessons are 20 minutes and 5th grade lessons are 30 minutes, once a week. This piano program has limited space and requires a commitment from home. We do not want spots taken up by students who are only attending the lessons and not practicing daily.
- There will be a $400 fee per year per students ($200 per semester). Payment for the semester or the entire school year is due at the time of enrollment via SchoolPay.
- We are requesting that any student who signs up for this program has a piano or keyboard at home for use.
- Continuing 1st through 5th piano students will have registration priority.
Please direct any questions to Ms. Tran at kristina.tran@houstonisd.org. The deadline to submit this registration form is end of day Friday, August 28th.

Do you like to make copies? Build furniture? Own a business? Know how to make a spreadsheet? THERE IS A PLACE FOR YOU as a Roberts Volunteer with the PTO!
Email us at volunteer@robertspto.org to be a valued part of the Community.
|
|
As we prepare for a successful school year, we encourage families who plan to volunteer on campus to register or renew their registration with HISD Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS). Please note that background checks can take several weeks to process, so we encourage you to complete the application as soon as possible.
VIPS approval does not roll over from one school year to the next, so all volunteers must complete a new application each school year. The HISD volunteer handbook can be found here.
