$174K. WOW, AND, OF COURSE YOU DID...BECAUSE YOU ARE A CULTURE OF GIVING! You came in huge during our second week of Culture of Giving. We absolutely crushed our goal of $145,000 and have raised over $174,000 in donations! The donation page will be up through the end of this week for anyone that would still like to contribute. At our current level, we'll be giving over $2,600 in Amazon gift cards back to our amazing teachers!

An important reminder that early pick up ends promptly at 2:30PM. If you need to sign your child out early, parents should email both their child's teacher and res@houstonisd.onmicrosoft.com to make them aware. Always arrive at least 5 - 10 minutes early in case there are delays due to students being at recess, lunch, or ancillary.

Come celebrate Roberts Elementary's 90th Anniversary on Sunday, October 25th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Roberts Elementary. We will have an open house and party with student performances, school tours, historical display, and cake! Everyone is welcome!

Attention 5th grade Parents (and incoming Kinder students not zoned to Roberts)- the Phase 1 School Choice Application will launch on December 8, 2026, and will close on February 12, 2027. Please see key dates for the application timeline below. Reach out to the Office of School Choice and Enrollment for additional support: SchoolChoice@houstonisd.org

For additional resources, please visit the School Choice website at https://www.houstonisd.org/schoolchoice. This is especially important for our families who plan to apply to HISD non-zoned middle schools for the 2027 – 2028 school year.

Parents, please ensure you have completed HISD's Annual Student Update form. Roberts strives to meet the district goal of 100% completion by September 30th, 2026. Click or scan the code below to complete your student's information.

If you completed the Annual Student Update prior to August 10th, please complete it again- the district updated the forms with more information after the start of the school year.

The 2026–2027 Spelling Bee Qualifier is open to all 2nd through 5th grade students and will take place on Monday, November 16th at 2PM. If your child is interested in participating, sign up here!.

Students will receive the spelling list after their registration is received. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, November 5th. Please email Ms. Tran at Kristina.tran@houstonisd.org if you have any questions.

Roberts Rodeo Art Club is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students interested in creating artwork for the annual Rodeo Art competition. Students interested in auditioning should submit an original rodeo-themed artwork to Teacher Morales by Monday, September 28. Please include the student’s name, grade level, and homeroom teacher on the artwork.

Rodeo Art Club is limited to approximately 10 students. Students will be selected based on their audition artwork, and families will be notified after submissions have been reviewed. The first meeting will be Monday, October 5, from 3:15–4:15 PM in the Art Studio.

One of our PTO Auction experiences came to life this weekend! A group of Roberts parents enjoyed a Asiatown Demystified tour, exploring Houston’s Asiatown and wrapping up the experience with delicious dim sum at Fung’s Kitchen.

It looks like such a fun way to connect with our Roberts community while discovering a different side of Houston. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our PTO Auction!

The Roberts International Festival is coming up on Friday, October 23rd! This is a favorite Roberts event - be a part of it by volunteering or hosting a country booth. We especially need fashion show and volunteer coordinators this year!

REGISTRATION COMING SOON! Join the PADRES and the Roberts Community on Friday November 6th, to camp out under the stars on the lawn and field at Roberts Elementary! Campout will include activities, Friday dinner and snacks, Saturday breakfast, and a Campout t-shirt for students. Adult volunteers will also receive a Campout shirt. Registration is planned to open on September 28th, so save the date and stay tuned for more info!

We are also looking for VIPs approved parent volunteers to help with morning practices. Please sign up to volunteer here! As a reminder, we ask that students do not get dropped off earlier than 6:35am.

Are you interested in Gifted and Talented testing for your student(s)? Complete the form in ParentSquare to register for Fall G/T testing by September 25th, 2026. Gifted and Talented Testing is available for HISD students currently enrolled in PK4 - 12th grades and students entering Kindergarten in the 2027-2028 school year. Gifted and Talented Identification is required to be eligible to apply for Vanguard campuses in HISD.

Universal G/T Testing: HISD also administers universal G/T testing for students who have not been identified as G/T and who meet the following criteria:

• All students in 2nd grade (requesting testing is not required)
• Students in 5th & 8th grades scoring above the 80th percentile on BOY NWEA Math or Reading

Previously Identified G/T Students: If your student has previously been identified G/T, please note the following:

• Students identified as G/T in all content areas do not need to be retested for identification and are eligible to apply to Vanguard campuses.
• Students identified as G/T in one content area are eligible to request testing to be identified in all content areas for eligibility to apply to Vanguard campuses.
• Please reach out to your student’s campus G/T coordinator if you have any questions about current identification status.

Testing Window: October 5th – 23rd (make up testing available: October 26th - 30th)

• The campus will schedule the specific testing dates for your student within the window. If you have questions about the testing timeline, please contact the campus coordinator.

G/T Identification Results will be sent home from your student’s campus in December, in alignment with the School Choice Application window. As we prepare for a successful school year, we encourage families who plan to volunteer on campus, chaperone a field trip, or have lunch with their child starting September 22nd to register or renew their registration with HISD Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS). Please note that background checks can take several weeks to process, so we encourage you to complete the application as soon as possible.

VIPS approval does not roll over from one school year to the next, so all volunteers must complete a new application each school year after Aug 10. The HISD volunteer handbook can be found here.
