Attendance Appeals: Attendance appeals for students who have missed nine (9) or more days this year will go home in the Home Communication folder on Tuesday, March 5. Please note that the 90% rule includes both unexcused AND excused absences.

Intent to Return Forms: Each year we ask parents to complete an Intent to Return form indicating if their child(ren) will return to Roberts for the upcoming school year. Intent To Return forms for the 2024–2025 school year will be available beginning Monday, March 4. Forms will be completed online, and the link will be published in the weekly teacher blog, on the Roberts website, and via Facebook.

Sibling Registration: Registration for siblings of current Roberts students will begin in April. More information is forthcoming.

FROM YOUR PTO PRESIDENT

There is a lot of activity happening this spring at Roberts. Be sure to keep an eye on the weekly Front Page, as well as the RE Facebook group, for important announcements and information about everything happening so you don't miss out!

One important announcement I would like to bring to your attention is the appointment of our Nominating Committee. Per the RE PTO bylaws, the Nominating Committee shall consist of five members—three from the current Board and two from the general PTO membership. The President, President-Elect, and Principal will serve in an advisory capacity to the committee without a vote. The members of this year's committee are:

  • Kulsum Akbar, Board Member, Kindergarten Liaison
  • Parul Anderson, Board Member, Room Parent Chair
  • Eleanor Verrett, Board Member, Carnival
  • Damita Roberts, General Membership
  • Leah Taylor, General Membership

The slate of nominees will be presented in advance of the April PTO meeting and voted on at that meeting. Additional information regarding the nominating process may be found in our bylaws available on the website.

Also happening this spring is the continuation of projects and improvements that are made possible by your generous financial and volunteer contributions. Thanks to our amazing community, we have been able to tackle some big projects this year, like the new basketball court, turf, and the 5th Grade Deck Version 2.0. And now we have our eye on our biggest and most exciting project yet: our new library! Our Auction co-chairs and their dedicated committee members have been hard at work getting ready for a great event. I hope you can join us for a really fun evening.

Finally, I would like to encourage you to take part in our events by volunteering your time. International Festival, Winter Festival, Lunar New Year, Auction, and Carnival (just to name a few) are big events that rely heavily on volunteers to help make them run efficiently. Please email volunteer@robertspto.org for more information on upcoming opportunities or for general interest in available positions. Thank you all for your support!

TEACHERS OF THE WEEK
Ms. Gillian Lynch (2nd Grade)

Hi RE! I am Gillian Lynch, one of the second-grade teachers! I have been teaching for seven years but this is my first year at Roberts. I have loved getting to know the Roberts community and can't wait for more great years ahead! I am originally from San Antonio and attended Texas A&M University. I moved to Houston five years ago and love the city! In my free time I enjoy walking along a bayou, reading a good book or spending time with friends and family. I am also an avid traveler and have a life goal of visiting every continent. I have four more to go! My other great passion in life is teaching and I always hope to instill in my students a love of learning and growing!

Mr. Zachery Lacy (Music)

It's Mr. Lacy's first year at Roberts, and he is absolutely loving it. This is his sixth year as an elementary music teacher.  Before beginning his teaching career, he graduated from the University of Houston Moores School of Music. In addition to his passion for teaching music, Mr. Lacy has a passion for performing music with several local musical groups.
