FROM THE PRINCIPAL: SAFETY UPDATE

Dear Parents,

Last week, the district shared some information about threats affecting schools statewide. I understand that this news might have been concerning and may have raised many questions for you.

I want to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority here at Roberts. While there hasn't been any direct threat to our school, we are taking extra precautions by increasing perimeter checks and safety walks around the campus.

We usually hold an Intruder Drill twice a year to prepare our students for what to do in case of an emergency. Although this drill is typically scheduled for mid to late October, we have decided to move it up this year to make sure that everyone is well-prepared. I won't be able to share the exact date and time of the drill in advance, but I will inform you afterward so you know how it went and can address any additional questions you might have.

I hope this message helps to alleviate some of your concerns. Please know that we are dedicated to keeping your child safe every day.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

STAFF MEMBER OF THE WEEK
Ms. Erica Zatzkin, Assistant Principal

Hi! My name is Erica Zatzkin, and I am the Assistant Principal at Roberts Elementary. This is my sixth year at Roberts, and I am excited to be part of such an amazing staff! My two children, Sebastian (5th grade) and Emerson (kindergarten) both attend Roberts Elementary as well, and I feel very fortunate to have them with me. I have a dog named Astra, and a cat named Cleocatra. In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and pets. For fun I love to read, eat out, try new foods, and travel with my family. I am excited about this school year and watching our students learn and grow!

NEW TEACHER OF THE WEEK

Mrs. Carolyn Calhoun, 2nd Grade

I am Mrs. Calhoun. I recently joined the Roberts 2nd Grade team, and I am thrilled to be working with your students. I consider it both an honor and a joy. I look forward to the process of guiding students toward a lifelong love of learning as they meet their academic goals.

ROBERTS DIRECTORY IS LIVE

The school directory is a great way to contact parents for playdates, parties, and class events! If you have a student at Roberts, your name and email address will be in the directory unless you opt out online. Log in at robertspto.membershiptoolkit.com/directory to verify your directory information and update your publishing preferences.

If you have never logged in, sign up for a free account to access the directory and the school store. Email directory@robertspto.org with any questions.

JOIN ROBERTS RUNNING CLUB

Registration for running club is open with the first practice of the season occurring this Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:45 a.m! Running club will practice every Monday and Friday after that, barring holidays and school closures. Runners can be dropped off around 6:35 a.m. at the School Street gate. We encourage water bottles and comfortable clothes and shoes.

We require all runners to register each year and request a $30 donation for each child per year to help cover t-shirt and special event costs such as the Mustang Rally at the end of the year. Hope to see you at Running Club!

CULTURE OF GIVING: HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL!

Culture of Giving is one of Roberts Elementary School's primary fundraisers, contributing a third of the total PTO budget. This money funds:

  • Curriculum enrichment
  • Building and grounds maintenance and improvements
  • Professional development for teachers and staff
  • Staff appreciation
  • Events and hospitality

The classroom with the highest increase in percentage of participation this week will earn donuts for the class! Past donations have ranged from $5 to $5000 and any amount is welcome.
