National D.E.A.R Day
Description
April 12 is National "Drop Everything and Read" (D.E.A.R.) Day! It encourages families to unplug, set aside all distractions and enjoy books together for at least 30 minutes.
D.E.A.R. day is celebrated on Newbery Medal-winning author Beverly Cleary's birthday, and her most popular character, Ramona Quimby, is the program's official spokesperson.
Roberts Bookworms Committee will be awarding gift cards to students who write winning reviews for books read on D.E.A.R. Day.
