NEW TEACHER OF THE WEEK
PJ Morales, Art Teacher

Hello, my name is PJ Morales, and I am thrilled to be joining Roberts Elementary as the new Art Teacher. Born and raised in the sunny paradise of Puerto Rico, I’ve always had a passion for creativity. I earned my Master’s degree in Graphic Arts, which has fueled my dreams of becoming an inspiring educator.

Before joining Roberts, I had the enriching experience of working as a resident trainer and educator for MAC Cosmetics, where I also had the opportunity to work at New York Fashion Week. My journey has taught me the power of community, and I am eager to bring that spirit to Roberts. I am committed to fostering a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels they belong. As a neurodivergent individual, I understand the importance of diversity and inclusivity in education.

In my classroom, we use the IB character traits as a foundation for respect and mutual understanding. My goal is to create a safe space where students can freely express themselves and grow both academically and personally.

In my free time, I enjoy painting, cooking, and singing.

I look forward to what lies ahead and am excited to get to know my colleagues, our students, and their families.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
CALLING ALL PADRES!

The PADRES (Promoting Active Dads at Roberts Elementary School) Club coordinates several events for the school, including the annual campout and softball tournament, and organizes weekend Work Days to tackle maintenance and cleanup jobs around the Roberts building and campus. At the first PADRES Happy Hour of the year Aug. 16, close to 30 dads and their families made it out for a Friday evening at Valhalla on the Rice University campus. If you are interested in receiving emails about upcoming events, please sign up on the Toolkit Homepage under the Volunteering tab or email PADRES@RobertsPTO.org.

WEEKLY ON-CAMPUS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Have an hour or two to spare a week? The garden, library, and workroom could use your help! Get acquainted with the school and staff. Bonus: Randomly seeing your kiddo in the hallway. Please email committee chairs (internationalgarden@robertspto.org, library@robertspto.org, workroom@robertspto.org) for details or send inquiries to volunteer@robertspto.org.

Roberts volunteers are the best! Ready to get involved but unsure of what tasks, time, and commitment level you can take on? Volunteer opportunities range from one-time projects to recurring weekly (yet flexible) roles. Browse through PTO committee descriptions and select all those that interest you to get further info. Visit https://robertspto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteering or contact volunteer@robertspto.org with questions.

SEEKING COMMITTEE CHAIRS

Your leadership is needed! There are several committee chair roles still available. Most have a co-chair to partner with, and all receive support from executive committee members. No experience necessary! Please browse through the open role descriptions. Contact volunteer@robertspto.org with inquiries.

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!

Thank you to our wonderful RE community for showing up big time at our Garden Clean-Up! The veggie beds are ready for a fun and bountiful fall planting by our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

We still need a few volunteers to help these classes plant!
