April is National Counseling Awareness Month and as the month wraps up, we want to recognize our school counselor Kendra Lee. With 14 years in education, five as a teacher and now nine as a counselor, Ms. Lee brings energy, experience, and heart to everything she does. And if you ask her, she’ll tell you she truly loves her job!
Every six weeks, Ms. Lee visits each classroom for a fun, 30-minute counseling lesson. These lessons focus on the IB Learner Profile traits, helping students grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. If your child recently brought home a plant, that was part of her Spring Growth lesson- where students discovered that challenges can help us grow, just like seeds!
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Lee also leads small groups called Lunch Bunch. These groups meet once a week for four weeks and give students a chance to build skills like calming strategies, understanding what they can control, and resolving conflicts. Any student can join with parent permission, and new groups begin each month.
Ms. Lee is here to support families. Whether it’s help with bus passes, connecting to therapy resources, accessing food distribution, or working together to support your child, she’s always ready to lend a hand.
We’re so lucky to have Ms. Lee helping our students grow strong—inside and out!
