STAFF MEMBER OF THE WEEK: Kendra Salas, Interventions Team

Hi Roberts families! My name is Kendra Salas, and I’m thrilled to continue to be part of the amazing Roberts community! This is my 15th year here at Roberts. I started teaching 3rd grade, then moved to 2nd grade, and now I work with our interventions team. I am so lucky to have found a teaching family for myself and now a learning community for my daughter!

I am a native Houstonian and proud HISD grad! I went to Trinity University, where I earned my master’s degree in teaching. When we’re not at Roberts, you’ll often find our family cheering on the Houston Dynamo and Dash soccer teams or enjoying family walks and visits to the park. I’m looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead!

NEW TEACHER OF THE WEEK: Mrs. Rose Qin, 4th Grade Math & Science

Hey everyone! I moved to Texas last year from my home state, Indiana. I am super happy to be away from the snow! I graduated from Purdue in 2022, where I initially studied to be a veterinarian and eventually pivoted to teaching. Through my college education, I discovered my love for teaching through the lens of diversity. Since leaving college, I discovered my passion for teaching math and science. Some fun things about me: I love boba, axolotls, and writing. I am so excited to be joining your lovely community at Roberts Elementary School and I look forward to having a fabulous school year with your kiddos—thank you!
