CULTURE OF GIVING - WE DID IT!!

Thank you Roberts community for your generosity in the 2025 Culture of Giving Fundraiser! We have exceeded our goal and have raised over $130,000! This is a tremendous success for our school, students, and teachers! These donations will continue to make Roberts Elementary an incredibly special and enriching environment for our children.

If you still want to donate,
the donation page is open through Wednesday. Congratulations to Ms. Waterman's and Ms. Owens' classes who have won a donut party and a water bottle for their teacher! Ms. Waterman has also won a pizza party for having over 80% participation! Gina Lowry, 2nd Grade

As a new second grade teacher at Roberts Elementary, I am thrilled to be starting my first year at this wonderful school. I grew up in McAllen, TX and have always had a passion for working with children. After obtaining my BA in Psychology from the University of Houston, I knew that teaching young minds was the perfect career path for me. I continued my education at the University of St. Thomas, completing my Masters of Education. This year marks my 17th year in the Houston Independent
School District and my 20th year of teaching overall. Recently, I obtained my principal certification after attending the Rice Glasscock School of Education.

I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience to Roberts Elementary. I have always been drawn to teaching at the elementary level because of the creativity and curiosity of young students. With a diverse and academically creative school like Roberts, I know that I will have a fulfilling and rewarding experience. I cannot wait to be a part of this community and have the opportunity to work with your children to help them reach their full potential.

Shirin Hakimzadeh - Welcome Committee

What I love about Roberts
The teachers, staff, and families are truly the heart of Roberts. My daughter (Ayla) is in 2nd grade, but we’re the third household in my extended family to attend, so I’ve seen firsthand how this community lays such a strong foundation for our kids.

Why I’m involved in the PTO
Because our teachers and staff give so much, and the least we can do is have their backs. Supporting the PTO lets them focus on what they do best—shaping curious, confident kids.

What is the Welcome Committee?
We kick off the school year with the annual Class Coffee Socials—an easy, fun way to reconnect and meet new faces. Got a fresh idea to make families feel even more at home? Email us anytime at
 welcome@robertspto.org.

What advice would you give to new parents at Roberts?

Dive in! Whether it’s making copies in the workroom, shelving library books, volunteering early in the morning at Run Club, helping with a country tent at our one and only International Festival, or assisting with our BIG 3 fundraising efforts throughout the year, there’s a way for everyone to pitch in throughout the year. No contribution is too small!
