This week we begin middle of the year NWEA MAP testing for students in all grades. Testing will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and end at approximately 11:30 a.m. daily. Please make sure your child arrives on time each day so that they experience optimal testing conditions. The testing schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, Jan. 14: Math
• Wednesday, Jan. 15: Reading
• Thursday, Jan. 16: Science

Students in kindergarten and 1st grade will test in the computer lab as a class and will test beyond the days listed below. K–2 teachers will communicate the testing dates for their classes.  

Parents will receive information on student performance on NWEA MAP at the end of the testing period.

Middle school and private school application windows are open. For report cards and other school documents requests, please email RobertsRegistration@houstonisd.onmicrosoft.com and allow 2–3 business days to fulfill the request.

The School Choice application window runs Dec. 10–Feb. 12. 

Who should submit a School Choice application?

• 5th grade students applying to HISD middle schools
• Incoming siblings of current non-zoned students

Roberts Elementary is hosting school tours for prospective K–5 students. Tours run from 9–10 a.m.; all participants must check in with valid ID by 8:55 a.m.

Attention all 5th grade families: Houston ISD Magnet Tours have begun! Middle schools across the district will hold weekly informational sessions and usually site tours for interested students and their families at 1 p.m. every Thursday between Oct. 10 and Feb. 6. This is a great way to learn more about a campus while school is in session. The School Choice Phase 1 Application opens Dec. 10. 

Pin Oak Middle School, HISD's premiere foreign language magnet middle school, is pleased to announce our 2025–2026 tour dates! Parents interested in learning more about our outstanding programs are invited to join us for one of our guided tours, lasting approximately 45 minutes. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required, and each tour will accommodate only 50 participants. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore all that Pin Oak has to offer—secure your spot today!

Interested parents should sign up for Pershing magnet tours. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start so that you may sign in with the school. Parking is available in front of the school on Blue Bonnet or in our Stella Link parking lot. Please enter the school through the main entrance on Blue Bonnet.
